This year since our school system started later than most other systems, I got to read all the bloggy posts by all these wonderful bloggy mommies about sending their precious children off to the first day of school. They had pictures of their children, cleanly dresses, with new book bags, smiling for the camera.
For the last seven years, the first day of school as been just like any other school day. I've never thought of capturing the first day in pictures. Just never has dawned on me. I find the class picture to be the most important school picture all year. Also I am usually leaving the same time Knox gets on the bus for school.
But I decided that I was going to the wonderful mom that I had been reading about from all these other super blogging mommy bloggers this year. I was going to capture the first day on the last year that my oldest would be attending Big A Elementary. The same school that not only me but his grandparents AND great-grandparents had attended!
So, I got the camera ready. I got Knox up early (well, he was up waiting for me!). I made sure Knox had biscuits for breakfast. Everything was going great!
I told Knox that I was going to get his picture. So we were getting ready to walk out the door when the bus showed up! Mrs. Bell was early! So much for well placed plans!
Out the door Knox ran and out I run behind him with the camera...
I captured the moment, but you can't see Knox's smiling face. (Don't worry...you didn't miss that either! He wasn't to crazy about his summer ending!)
It's still up in the air whether I am as good as the other great bloggy mommies out there in bloggy-land. My children could care less and my Hubby too, so why I am even worried about it! I guess I don't want my children to grow up too fast!
I'm sure you're an excellent mom!
ReplyDelete(and if you crop & zoom in on those pictures, no one will really know!)
You captured that day just fine, and when he is grown you will glad you have that pic to remember that moment in time.
ReplyDeleteYou did fine... his whole body says he'd rather be doing anything but heading for that bus... it's a memory you'll love down the road... I'm getting a little nostalgic, myself... have been putting all our old slides and photos on CD for my daughter and seeing them brings back so many memories... hope I get it done...
ReplyDeleteAww...I'm sorry it didn't turn out the way you planned. I totally give you an A+ for effort though!
ReplyDeleteHee hee! You got it, that's all that matters. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd that bus looks snazzy with those lights! I didn't know that school buses had lights. Maybe I need to start getting up earlier. ;-)
As long as you get the first day of kindergarten & graduation you're good! =)
