Frugal Friday: More Baking Soda Tips

A couple of Friday's ago a did a post on uses for good old baking soda.  I want to add to that list a few more tips that I have used and read on the blog Tip Hero.

  • Homemade Air Freshener Spray: Mix 2 cups hot water with 1/8 cup baking soda and 1/2 cup lemon juice.  Then shake to dissolve baking soda and spray in the air as needed.  This is a frugal and green air freshener.

  • Ink Removal:  Mix baking soda and dish detergent to remove ink from your hands.
  • Slippery Sidewalks: Sprikle a generous amount of baking soda on icy patches on walkways. The baking soda is easier on the cement than salt and makes a slip free zone.
  • Crayon On Walls: Remove crayon scribbles from walls by making a paste of baking soda and water then use it to gently scrub the crayon marks. You may also sprinkle baking soda on a damp sponge and rub.
  • Remove Sticky Goo Left Behind By Stickers & Labels: Use a mix of baking soda and water (mix into a paste). Rub gently into the goo, then wipe off with a warm wet cloth.
I want to hear from you!  Leave your comments on tips you have for using baking soda!
